Seçil Erzan is before the judge again: 'I don't owe anyone anything, but I remained in debt'

The decision given against former Branch Manager Seçil Erzan, who was sentenced to 102 years and 4 months in prison and a judicial fine of 753 thousand 880 liras, for allegedly defrauding more than 30 people, including well-known football players Arda Turan, Fernando Muslera, Emre Belözoğlu and Selçuk İnan, of millions of liras, by saying that names such as Fatih Terim were included in the fund she established with the promise of high interest, was overturned by the 22nd Criminal Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice.

The Regional Court of Justice noted that the first instance court did not include information about the combined files in its decision, and this made the audit difficult. The chamber found the appeal applications appropriate and stated that some procedural rules were not applied during the trial process. The file was sent to the Istanbul 29th High Criminal Court for retrial.

In this context, Erzan appeared before the judge again.

Seçil Erzan, who spoke at the hearing, said: "I am very confident because I was tried again and again. I think I was not tried fairly. Nothing I said was taken into account for 3 and a half years. Decisions were made against me. Only what the participants said was accepted as absolute truth. I would like to summarize what everything happened. Firstly, in the court where I was previously tried, only my statements from the prosecutor's office were taken as basis, on the grounds that there was a contradiction between the statements I made at the prosecutor's office and my other statements. I did not receive sufficient legal support. I gave my statement with some guidance at that time. I want to explain everything clearly right now. I didn't run away, I turned off my phone that morning, I went to Çorlu. I wasn't myself, I couldn't answer my phone that day. There were people knocking on the door, trying to get money from me. I was beaten in front of my mother and tried to understand. "I was given an IV. The bank officials referred me to a lawyer. I went to the prosecutor in my statements. I tried to explain everything clearly. Everything I said was taken out of context. I told him that I did not have the money. The bank's lawyer said, 'There is pressure from above, you are being arrested.'

Seçil Erzan continued: "I called everyone a fund that day, under fear and pressure. The lawyers who told me this have a letter in their hands. I want to present it. I did not say fund. I had meetings with the bank. I wrote down everything they told me that night. These fund declarations were based on a basis. 'I deceived them, I corrupted their will'. This was established. I did not set up a system. I do not have a behavior that can be concretized with the promise of high interest. If Arda Turan gets 1 penny, I will be sentenced to a thousand years." verin.
