Suicide attack on police post in Pakistan: At least eleven dead

At least eleven people have died in a suicide attack in northwest Pakistan. Around 30 others were injured when an attacker drove a vehicle loaded with explosives into a police post in Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday.

An emergency services spokesman said several of the injured were in mortal danger. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also known as the Pakistani Taliban, claimed responsibility for the attack in the Dera Ismail Khan region.

The site of the attack is near the border with Afghanistan. The region is repeatedly shaken by Islamist violence, which is often directed against police and security forces. There were also several attacks in the district this month, involving the Pakistani Taliban, among others.
