Six arrested for attempted robbery of precious metal buyer in Shinjuku, Tokyo

Six men have been arrested for attempting to rob a precious metal buyer in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. The Metropolitan Police Department's Investigation 1 Division announced on May 11 that they have re-arrested two of the men, Kazuhiro Uetake (23, unemployed) of Kazo City, Saitama Prefecture, and Daiki Sudo (23, occupation unknown) of Isesaki City, Gunma Prefecture, for their involvement in a robbery and assault case and a residential intrusion case that occurred in Tokyo.

Neither suspect has revealed their plea. According to the division, both suspects participated in an "anonymous and fluid crime group" (Tokuryu) through SNS and introductions from acquaintances. They are also being investigated for their involvement in multiple robbery cases that occurred outside of Tokyo.

Uetake is suspected of spraying tear gas on four men visiting for a gold bullion transaction on the street in Higashi-shin-Koganei, Katsushika Ward, around 1:40 PM on April 28. He is suspected of assaulting one man in his 40s, causing serious injury, and stealing a backpack containing approximately 2 kg of gold bullion, valued at about 53 million yen.

Uetake reportedly handed over the stolen gold bullion to another person and is believed to have not received any reward. Sudo is suspected of breaking into a residence in Koganei City around 8:10 PM on May 12 with the intent to steal valuables.
