Shooting at school in Södertälje – three people arrested

The teenage boy with a gunshot wound was found outside and taken to hospital by ambulance. He is not of legal age and is being cared for in hospital. The injuries are not life-threatening, the police write on their website.

- At 19.30 we received a call that a person had heard explosions in Ronna, so we went there and launched an operation, says police spokesperson Robert Sennerdal to SVT on Monday evening.

The police are investigating the incident as attempted murder.

Hours after the first day of school

The shooting took place near Ronnaskolan - on the same day that the students returned after the summer holidays. The school is now open as usual, but has increased staffing and is talking to the students about what happened. A majority of the students are placed according to the school.

- It shows that the school is a safe place for our students, says Mattias Aho, principal at Ronnaskolan.

Three people arrested

Two girls under the age of 15 are in the care of social services, one suspected of attempted murder, the other of aiding and abetting attempted murder. In addition to the two people under the age of 15, a person over the age of 18 has been arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting attempted murder.

The police have carried out a crime scene investigation in the area and the cordons have been lifted.
