The investigation into Zondacrypto and the disappearance of Sylwester Suszka may be transferred to Warsaw

Investigators in Katowice are dealing with the Zondacrypto scandal. Żurek said that actions in this matter must be transferred to the central level - to Warsaw.

We know that not everyone from this team is able to leave their family and move to Warsaw, but we already have signals from people from other places in Poland that they are willing to work in this team, and they have skills and knowledge that would be very useful in conducting this investigation - he emphasized.

He noted that the final staff has not been selected yet, but organizational steps have already been taken.

I have a good candidate for the head of this investigative team, who is successfully conducting this investigation, and today the management of the Silesian branch is on completely different tracks and speeds - he added.

Waldemar Żurek hopes that establishing this team in Warsaw will provide even greater opportunities to examine evidence, a lot of which has already been collected, and the location of the team in Silesia limits staffing possibilities. He emphasized that very experienced people work there and he would like them to work in Warsaw.

Investigation into Zondacrypto and the disappearance of Sylwester Suszka

The Silesian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Katowice is headed by the head of the prosecutor, Marek Wełna. He took up this function in February 2026, replacing the dismissed long-time head of the prosecutor's office, Tomasz Tadło.

The proceedings regarding the Zondacrypto cryptocurrency exchange were initiated by the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Katowice on April 17 this year. for fraud of high value and money laundering. So far, several thousand crime reports have been received.

At the beginning of August this year. these proceedings were combined with the investigation ongoing in the Silesian department of the National Prosecutor's Office related to the disappearance of Sylwester Suszek, whose fate has been unknown since March 2022. As part of the investigation into the Zondacrypto cryptocurrency exchange, the arrests included: the former head of the Polish Olympic Committee, Radosław Piesiewicz.
