The drama started yesterday around 15 on the Main Market Square in Krakow. The black Subaru drove onto the tarmac. The driver started shooting at random people. He then ran away from the police. At the intersection of ul. Dietla from ul. Stradomska collided with another car, then got out of the vehicle and shot at the officers. The police returned fire, shot the attacker and overpowered him. According to information provided by the Police Commander-in-Chief, General Insp. Marek Boroń, the exchange of fire took place three minutes after the report. 30 police crews participated in the intervention.

In total, four women and two men died as a result of this shooting. There are 15 injured people in hospitals.

The attacker was also taken to hospital. He shot his victims with an AR-15 rifle. The police found more weapons and ammunition in his car.

The perpetrator of the shooting is 24-year-old Michał O. from Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski

Even though the man did not have any documents with him, it was quickly determined that he was a 24-year-old resident of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. The man had no previous police records. He had a firearms permit. At the evening press conference, Minister of Interior and Administration Marcin Kierwiński said that, according to preliminary findings, the man acted alone and was fascinated by extreme right-wing ideologies. The circumstances and motives of the attack are being investigated by the police, the prosecutor's office and the secret services.

A macabre discovery in the family's home

Late in the evening, the police entered the apartment in the block where the 24-year-old lived. She made a gruesome discovery there. There were three bodies inside - two women and a man. Everything indicates that these are the 24-year-old's parents and sister. The residents of the block were evacuated. They returned to their apartments after 23.

The neighbors interviewed by "Echo Dnia" journalists have different opinions about the 24-year-old. You know, they were very nice people. My mother was always so smiling, so joyful. It's really quiet - said one of the residents of the block. Another woman said that the 24-year-old did not seem like a person from whom such dramatic events could be expected. He's such a normal boy, happy and cheerful. As far as I know, he used to win some awards while still at school. There were no problems with it. Overall, it was such a quiet family, she said.

Another neighbor said that his behavior had been causing her concern for a long time. He closed and opened, closed and opened the door many times. He wore a mask. It was a long time ago, you know, after this epidemic, and he was wearing this mask. Very often in a hood. Only his eyes were visible. He seemed like such a terrible figure. According to Interia's findings, the perpetrator of the tragedy is Michał O. The man grew up in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. As an 11-year-old, he won third place in the "With Jesus through the Way of the Cross" competition. He had a sister three years younger than him. She is a talented artist who has previously studied in Krakow.
