Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors’ star player and the four tie NBA champion, could be a force to be reckoned with on the court but both and his wife, Ayesha Curry, have remained devoted to their foundation, Eat. Learn & Play. The high profile couple recently celebrated their foundation celebrating seven years of changing lives in Oakland and now, they have marked a new achievement.

Just a few days ago, Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry’s foundation, Eat. Learn & Play, made an update about how the charity has tried to close the literacy gap in Oakland. The heartfelt post reads as, “When a child learns to read, everything changes. Curiosity takes off, and a whole world opens up. That’s why, in 2024, Eat. Learn. Play. pledged $25 million over five years to close Oakland’s literacy gap, working toward 10,000 tutoring opportunities by 2029. To date, our 1:1 and small group tutoring has reached over 7,500 students in the Oakland Unified School District.” The post added, “Personalized support layered on top of classroom instruction with students building confidence one page at a time. We’ve also placed more than 1 million books into Oakland kids’ hands with the @Oaklitcoalition and through programs like our free holiday book boxes and book fairs, and the Eat. Learn. Play. Bus.” The post has sparked chaos among fans as many remain in awe of how Stephen Curry and his wife Ayesha Curry have remained dedicated to helping thousands of children belonging to their hometown, Oakland.

Seven years ago, the four time NBA champion Stephen Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, had only one goal in their lives as they set out to help and be there for children coming from underprivileged families and impoverished backgrounds. Both of them set up Eat. Learn & Play with a goal to provide nutritious meals and quality education across children in Oakland. A few months ago, in an interview with NPR's Scott Simon, Ayesha Curry opened up about why there was a literacy gap in their hometown as she said, “A lot of times, the students come into the school system, and their parents can't read at home. And so, of course, when their parents, you know, are not reading to them and nurturing them in that way as much as they want to, they don't have that option.”

And when you're within the public school system, you don't always have the option to have, you know, that one-on-one time with the books and an educator the way that you need to in order to progress.”
