Former regime commander captured in Daraa, Syria

In the statement made by the Internal Security Forces affiliated with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was reported that as a result of the work carried out, Cabir Muhriz Ibrahim, a brigadier general who served as the Commander of the 138th Air Defense Brigade in Sayda town of Dera during the deposed regime, was captured.

According to the initial findings of the investigation, it was determined that the person in question suppressed the demonstrators by giving killing and arrest orders during the deposed regime, participated in military attacks on villages and towns in the eastern countryside of Dera, and followed civilians and targeted their homes.

It was reported that the name of the suspect, who was found to be directly responsible for the Sayda residences massacre in which approximately 120 people lost their lives, was mentioned in systematic arrest and torture operations against many people, including Hamza al-Khatib.

HAMZA AL-HATIB

One of the symbolic figures of the popular uprising that started in Syria in 2011 was 13-year-old Hamza Ali al-Hatib.

Hamza al-Khatib, who was born in 1997 in the al-Jizah town of Dera, was detained by regime forces near the town of Sidon on April 29, 2011, while he set out with his family to participate in a demonstration in the Dera countryside.

The body of Hamza, who was detained for about a month, was delivered to his family on May 25, 2011. During the first examination of the corpse, traces of severe torture, beating, burns and bullets were found on his body.
