SPD candidate Eva Bender is leading in the runoff election for regional president in Hanover

In the runoff election for the office of regional president in Hanover, SPD candidate Eva Bender is clearly ahead after an interim result. According to the count published by the region as of 6:30 p.m., it came to 63.0 percent of the votes recorded so far. Her CDU competitor Oliver Junk has so far accounted for 37.0 percent.

At this point, 600 of a total of 1,360 results were available – around 44 percent. The majority of the results were still pending. The proportion of votes may change as the counting progresses; an election winner has not yet been determined.
