Suspect is arrested for raping 11-year-old cousin and transmitting STIs; victim is in the ICU in AP

A 27-year-old man was arrested this Tuesday (3), in the Buritizal neighborhood, in the South Zone of Macapá, suspected of raping his own cousin, an 11-year-old boy.

The child is hospitalized in a very serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Hospital da Criança e do Adolescente after contracting a sexually transmitted infection (STI) resulting from the abuse.

According to the Civil Police, the abuse occurred in the house where the suspect and the victim lived, while the child was in the care of family members. Living in the same property facilitated the commission of the crime.

The child is hospitalized at the Hospital for Children and Adolescents with a lung infection worsened by the STI transmitted during sexual violence.

According to agents, the victim had previously reported the abuse to her family, but no action was taken at the time. Already in the hospital, with his health weakened, the child once again confirmed his cousin as the perpetrator of the abuse.

With the evidence gathered during the investigation, the Civil Police requested the preventive arrest of the person being investigated, which was carried out by the police at the suspect's residence.

The man was taken to the police station and will undergo a custody hearing, remaining at the disposal of the Judiciary.
