Drone attack on Saudi Arabia's city of Mecca was condemned

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Houthis' drone attacks targeting the city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

In the written statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of Saudi Arabia was confirmed. Solidarity with Saudi Arabia was emphasized once again.

"We reiterate our call to immediately end these attacks, which also threaten regional stability and security, and to avoid any actions aimed at further escalating tensions," the statement said.

STATEMENT FROM BURHANETTİN DURAN

Director of Communications Burhanettin Duran also condemned the attacks. Duran shared it on his social media account.

Stating that he condemned in the strongest terms the vile attack attempt made with a drone, targeting the sanctity and security of Mecca, Duran said, "Any attempt to attack the Haremeyn al-Sharifain, which is the sacred value of the Islamic world, wounds the common conscience of all of us. Protecting the peace and security of Mecca is a great sensitivity for the entire Islamic world."

Duran said, "As our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has always stated, the Islamic world does not need new conflicts, but common sense, dialogue and permanent peace. I express that we stand by brother Saudi Arabia and wish him a speedy recovery."

ÖMER ÇELİK: DISRESPECTFUL TO MECCA MEANS DISRESPECTFUL TO ALL MUSLIMS

AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik said that they condemned the unmanned aerial attack attempt targeting Mecca.

In his statement on his social media account, Çelik said, "Disrespecting Mecca means disrespecting all Muslims. Attacks targeting Saudi Arabian cities, especially Mecca, have no meaning other than serving the interests of those who have bad intentions for Muslims."

Maliki reported that the UAV in question was blocked and destroyed in the south of the city of Mecca.

On the other hand, Houthis' Military Spokesperson Yahya Seri, in his written statement on his social media account, argued that the allegations that they targeted Mecca did not reflect the truth.

Stating that they only targeted oil facilities and military bases in the attacks against Saudi Arabia, Seri stated that they followed a strategy completely away from holy places.
