SV Elversberg wins away for the first time at Borussia Mönchengladbach 4:3

Newly promoted SV Elversberg continued its dream start in the Bundesliga in a sometimes wild game. A week after the successful premiere in the upper house against Bayer Leverkusen, the Saarland club followed up and secured its first away win at Borussia Mönchengladbach with 4:3 (1:2).

After the second win in the second game, the smallest first division location in history with 13,000 inhabitants continues to ride on the wave of success, but has to digest a downer with the yellow-red card for coach Vincent Wagner.

David Mokwa (29'), Maurice Krattenmacher (66', 90'+2) and Felix Keidel (80') with a remarkable free kick turned the game around for Elversberger, who had fallen behind after a much-discussed throw-in. The second goal from Gladbach's double goal scorer Hugo Bolin (11th/44th) caused excitement on the Elversberg side. The offensive player struck again after a quick throw-in from Tim Kleindienst - the SVE seemed to be taken by surprise, but then they rightly complained that Kleindienst had had the ball last.

Shortly after the final whistle of the first half, coach Wagner discussed with referee Martin Petersen, who showed the coach the yellow-red card on the way to the dressing room - the SVE coach will therefore miss his team's duel with record champions Bayern Munich next week on Sunday (5.30 p.m./DAZN). Wagner also experienced the second half in Gladbach from the stands. But after Joe Scally's goal (56th), his team came back impressively.

"Gladbach is a hurdle that is not much smaller than Leverkusen," Wagner, who saw no reason to change his starting line-up after the success against the "Werkself", warned in advance.

Gladbach's new signing Nicolas Kühn initially had to watch and saw his new team take the lead early on. After a corner, SVE didn't clear the ball properly and Bolin headed the ball into the goal from close range. On the other hand, Francis Onyeka hit the post in front of keeper Moritz Nicolas (13th). The pace went in the other direction again, but Wael Mohya's goal did not count due to Bolin's offside position (15th). Gladbach stayed on the trigger, but Mokwa coldly took advantage of an Elversberg counterattack situation.

After the much-discussed throw-in, including the goal, Scally delivered the second blow to Elversberg's neck shortly after the break. But Krattenmacher brought the SVE back into the game less than two minutes after he was substituted on, which was fought over until the end. Keidel and Krattenmacher again made the SVE even cheer.
