Attack with an iron stick in Tarsus: one dead, one seriously injured

The incident took place around 16.30 in Gülek District of Tarsus district. Burak Ş., who went to his uncle Sait Şahbaz's house, started arguing with his aunt-in-law Nihal Şahbaz for an unknown reason. Nihal Şahbaz, who was attacked by Burak Ş. with an iron stick he found at home, shouted and asked for help from her husband.

The suspect also attacked his uncle who came to the room with an iron stick. Health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene upon the notice of their neighbors who saw the Shahbaz couple lying on the ground covered in blood after being beaten.

Upon check-up by the medical team, it was determined that Sait Shahbaz died. Nihal Şahbaz, who was seriously injured, was taken to Tarsus State Hospital by ambulance. It was learned that Shahbaz's life-threatening condition remained under treatment. Sit Shahbaz's dead body was taken to the morgue of Mersin Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy after examination at the scene.
