Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodivergent conditions now have access to a new specialized service in Bragança Paulista. TeAbraça began providing services at the “Dr. Samuel Haberkorn” Children’s Health Care Center, in Jardim São Lourenço, bringing together different professionals in the same space.
In this first stage, the program serves children aged 0 to 3 who were already awaiting follow-up care from the municipal health network. The expansion will be gradual, with plans to include children aged 4 and 5 from September and, subsequently, serving the public aged 0 to 12.
The objective is to offer integrated monitoring of child development and, at the same time, welcome and guide families.
Multidisciplinary care
TeAbraça has professionals in the areas of Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Music Therapy, Psychiatry and Nursing.
The structure has four rooms dedicated to therapies and internal activities, as well as a sensory garden in an external environment, used as part of activities aimed at the care and development of children.
The proposal is for professionals to work in an integrated manner, considering the needs presented by each child and building individualized support.
Care also involves family members. In addition to providing care to children, parents and guardians will receive support and guidance to understand their development needs and continue with stimulation and care in their daily lives.
How to access TeAbraça
Access to the program begins at the family's reference Basic Health Unit (UBS).
Primary Health Care teams were trained to identify children's needs, make referrals and organize access to the Children's Center.
TeAbraça services are provided from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm, by appointment through the municipal health network.
Tecendo Laços em Rede prepared professionals to provide assistance
The implementation of TeAbraça is part of work that began before preparing the physical space.
The service was structured based on the Tecendo Laços em Rede project, developed to qualify professionals and improve coordination between the areas of Health, Education and Social Assistance in monitoring neurodivergent children.
One of the first steps was to carry out a diagnosis of the municipal network, with the participation of managers, professionals, families and entities.
The survey identified points that needed to be improved, including reception, care flows, team training and early identification of changes in child development.
Based on this diagnosis, a 120-hour training course was structured for the professionals involved, including technical training, management consultancy and clinical-institutional supervision.
The training seeks to create a common basis for action so that the different municipal services involved in caring for neurodivergent children work in an integrated manner.
With the start of TeAbraça, this preparation process starts to be applied directly to the care of children and families, bringing together network organization, professional training and definition of care flows.
Children's Center brings together pediatric specialties
TeAbraça becomes part of the services offered by the “Dr. Samuel Haberkorn” Children’s Health Care Center, opened on April 16, 2025.
With 343.31 square meters of built area, the space concentrates different specialties focused on child care.
The Children's Center already offers services in Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Nephrology and Pediatrics of medium and high complexity, in addition to Nursing and Pharmacy support.
With the implementation of TeAbraça, the unit expands the offer of specialized care and begins to bring together new fronts of care focused on the health, development and quality of life of neurodivergent children in Bragança Paulista.
