Telegraph: Possible ban on US diesel exports spells disaster for UK

MOSCOW, September 27 - RIA Novosti. The consequences of a possible ban on the export of diesel fuel from the United States could be catastrophic for the UK, writes the British newspaper Telegraph.

The publication notes that a strong rise in diesel prices as a result of this decision could lead to an acceleration of inflation in the UK due to the impact on the agricultural and construction sectors, as well as freight transportation.

“A ban on diesel exports would leave the UK heavily dependent on both energy imports and unreliable foreign investors,” the newspaper writes.

The newspaper notes that the UK may have difficulty finding alternatives in European countries, recalling that before the Ukrainian conflict, about 20% of diesel fuel supplies to the country came from Russia.

US President Donald Trump previously spoke in favor of banning the export of diesel fuel from the country amid rising energy prices. After this, according to the Wall Street Journal, executives of large firms such as Chevron and ExxonMobil began contacting US administration officials to stop the implementation of this idea.
