3.7 magnitude earthquake felt in Calabria, people on the streets but no damage reported

An earthquake was felt today evening, 4 September 2026, in several areas of Calabria. The earthquake, recorded at 9.31 pm, had a provisional magnitude of 3.7 and was located by the INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology) 3 kilometers west of Castiglione Cosentino. The hypocenter is located about 9 kilometers deep.

People on the street, Civil Protection checks underway

So much fear among the population. The earthquake was clearly felt in Cosenza, Rende, Montalto Uffugo and throughout the Crati Valley, with people pouring into the streets and numerous calls to the fire brigade switchboards. At the moment they are not reported damage to people or things. Checks by the Civil Protection are underway.
