Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City and Naju City hold a TF meeting to attract the integrated headquarters of a power generation company

(Naju = Yonhap News) Reporter Hyeong Min-woo = Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City and Naju City held the '1st TF meeting to attract the integrated headquarters of power generation companies to Naju' at the Naju Bitgaram Complex Culture and Sports Center on the 23rd and discussed response measures to attract power generation companies.

The government plans to integrate five power generation companies to create Korea Power Generation, a 100% subsidiary of KEPCO, and establish an integrated headquarters with 1,800 employees.

It aims to be launched in October 2027 after enacting special laws and going through integration procedures.

At the meeting on this day, action plans for each field, including planning/general management, citizens/public relations, and external cooperation, were reviewed and the direction of attraction activities for related organizations was discussed.

The two organizations decided to present Naju's strengths as regional conditions that support the transition to renewable energy and the concentration of related organizations, such as energy public institutions and the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH), in Bitgaram Innovation City.

We plan to strengthen the need for attraction by linking the launch of Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City and the government's local government support policy with balanced national development, and also prepare ways to cooperate with government policies, such as relocating public institutions.

After the meeting, citizen promotional activities were carried out at Gwangju Songjeong Station and Naju Station to inform people of the need to attract an integrated headquarters.

Yoo Hyeon-ho, head of the Energy Industry Bureau of Jeonnam Gwangju Unified Special City, said, “Naju, where energy public institutions, industry, research, and talent training bases are concentrated, is the best location for an integrated headquarters,” and added, “We will work with Naju City to carry out attraction activities targeting related organizations such as the government and the National Assembly.”
