The film's English name is Chrysalis, made by American director Jordan Schulz. The script tells the story of Daniel's eventful childhood, from being abandoned by his mother, living with his grandmother, then going to an orphanage, to reuniting with his father and moving to America with his family.
The film project Truong Ngoc Anh participated in before she was detained in October 2025 on charges of abuse of trust and appropriation of property. The actress takes on the role of Lan, Daniel's mother, and also participates in the production. The film was introduced at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and was selected to compete at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) in July. When introduced at DANAFF, the character's appearance was edited by the crew using artificial intelligence, CGI techniques and dialogue was recorded using ADR techniques.
