Fatal shots in a tea room in Marl: perpetrators on the run

After the fatal shots in a tea room in Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia, early Monday morning, the suspected perpetrators are still on the run. A murder squad is investigating the background. The 39-year-old who was fatally shot died of severe blood loss from a shot in the lung, a police spokeswoman said after the man's autopsy.

The two other injured people, aged 35 and 40, did not require prolonged hospital treatment, she said. According to investigators, several people fled the scene. Witnesses had informed the police that night about the shots in the tea room.

Not the same perpetrators who shot at a car in mid-August

Shots were fired near the crime scene on August 11th. According to the police's findings at the time, an unknown shooter shot at the car of a 62-year-old with a sharp weapon. The man was uninjured and reported the incident to the police. The police spokeswoman said when asked that the perpetrators in both cases were most likely not identical.

The public prosecutor's office assumes attempted murder in the case from mid-August. A search was underway for the unknown suspect and a 20-year-old helper.
