Heavy rains caused traffic disruptions and crashes in Trabzon

The rainfall, which increased in the evening hours, caused disruptions in transportation in the city.

In Ortahisar district, water accumulations occurred in some streets and avenues due to heavy rain.

Vehicles had difficulty moving through traffic due to puddles in Çukurçayır District and Trabzon Airport.

In the statement made by the Governorship, it was stated that a coordination meeting was held at the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality TULAŞ Coordination Center, under the chairmanship of Governor Tahir Şahin, with the participation of relevant institutions within the scope of the Türkiye Disaster Response Plan (TAMP).

In the statement, it was stated that approximately 50 kilograms of rain fell per square meter due to the heavy rains in the city, and it was noted that 114 notifications have been received so far to 112 Emergency Call Centers.

In the statement, it was stated that a total of 533 personnel and 376 vehicles from AFAD, Highways, DSI, Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality, UMKE, TİSKİ, fire brigade and district municipalities were on duty in the field, and it was emphasized that the response efforts to the notifications were continued uninterruptedly.

According to the latest information received from the meteorology, the heavy rains that are still effective are expected to move eastward and continue their effect in Arsin district and eastern parts.

"It is estimated that up to 50 kilograms of precipitation per square meter may fall in places in our eastern districts, in addition to the existing precipitation. The new rainy system coming from the west is expected to be effective starting from the western parts of our province as of 22:00, and will leave approximately 50 kilograms of precipitation per square meter in our western districts and Ortahisar, in addition to the existing precipitation. It is expected that the precipitation will lose its effect towards the morning hours."

In the statement, citizens were asked to be careful against possible problems in transportation due to floods, floods and landslides, and to stay away from stream beds and risky areas.

On the other hand, a collapse occurred in the retaining wall and road of a site in Yalıncak District of Ortahisar district due to heavy rain.

As a result of the collapse, citizens residing in 2 buildings within the site were evacuated by AFAD teams. Teams took security measures in the damaged area.
