Court of Vicenza denies compensation to Michele Merlo's family for his death in 2021

No compensation to the family for the death of Michele Merlo, the young singer-songwriter from Rosà (Vicenza) star of the Amici program, who passed away in 2021, at just 28 years old, from fulminant leukemia. The Civil Court of Vicenza decided this, rejecting the request of the young man's parents at the end of the civil trial.

Merlo's family, with the lawyer Marco Dal Ben, called the family doctor, Ulss 7 Pedemontana and the insurance companies into question in the proceedings. In the sentence the judge specifies that the experts clarified that "the death of Michele Merlo is not in causal connection with the delay in the correct diagnosis, which also had a modest impact on the clinical evolution of the events". A technical consultancy had concluded that death was inevitable.

Before the civil case was launched, a settlement offer was made by the healthcare company and was rejected by the family. In the criminal investigation into the death of the 28-year-old, the judges had instead decided to dismiss it.
