25-year-old Tunisian dies hidden in a car on a ferry to Palermo

A 25-year-old Tunisian died while trying to enter Italy hidden in a car that was on board the ferry traveling from Tunis to Palermo. The migrant had no documents. It was the owner of the car, also Tunisian, who noticed the young man's death. The woman's position is now being examined by the Prosecutor's Office. The ferry staff contacted the maritime police who waited at the port of Palermo for the ship's arrival. In the meantime, the medical examiner arrived in port and carried out the first inspection.

The Prosecutor's Office has ordered an autopsy.

The young motorist was interviewed by police officers and her statements will now be examined by investigators from the Immigration section of the flying squad to whom the Palermo Prosecutor's Office has delegated the investigations to reconstruct the dynamics of the tragic death. It will be necessary to understand whether the woman, without a criminal record, had tried to help a friend or acquaintance reach Italy or whether, instead, there may be something else hidden behind the trip. The young victim, according to initial information, had few personal effects with him, including a cell phone which was seized. The autopsy, which will be carried out at the Institute of Forensic Medicine of the Polyclinic, will clarify the causes of death.
