The incident took place near İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical High School in Albayrak District of Turgutlu district of Manisa. According to the information obtained, 9th grade student H.O. opened fire on his schoolmates with the shotgun he brought with him. 11 students injured in the attack were taken to nearby hospitals and treated. In the images captured on the security cameras of the surrounding workplaces, it was seen that the suspect was walking on the road in a very calm manner before the incident, controlling the shotgun in his hand.

35 pellets could not be removed from the left leg of KB., who was injured as a result of H.O.'s attack and hospitalized and was discharged after completion of his treatment, due to the danger of tissue loss. KB, who was resting at home after being discharged from the hospital, talked about the moments of horror he experienced. Stating that they noticed the rifle in H.O.'s hand but did not pay attention to it, thinking it was an air rifle, K.B. said, "We were going to school normally, on the same road as usual. There is a place where we put the motorcycle. While we were going there, we saw the boy at first. He has a rifle in his hand. We thought it was an air rifle and did not pay attention to it. Later, when he turned it towards us, we saw that he was shooting at our friends before us. My friend also started to drive the motorcycle fast out of excitement. At that time, I also lost my balance. I fell to the ground. While trying to run, I followed behind. "He shot at me. The incident happened outside the school. I heard two gunshots. I think he ran away after that. I don't know the boy. I saw him for the first time."

Father İlhan Başakçı, who said that he sends his 5 children to school, said, "We want to send our children to school in a safer, healthier, more peaceful environment. Of course, we cannot send them to dangerous areas like this. I am currently educating five children. One of them has just graduated from the finance department. He did his military service and came back. The other one, for example, is currently in Malatya, a medical student, a senior. The other one is studying software engineering. I am also trying to work for a minimum wage and barely educate these children. My goal is "But let's face it, this should not have been the outcome. We want to hand our children over to the arms of the state," he said.
Stating that they feel sorry for all the injured children, father Başakçı said, "Such incidents are unacceptable. The current 11-13 students here are all our children. We ask for stricter measures to be taken and the children currently have psychological problems. They are experiencing financial and moral problems."

Stating that there are 35 pellets left in his son K.B.'s left leg and that they could not be removed due to the risk of tissue loss, father Başakçı said, "It will take a long time for him to get up now. 35 pellets remain on my son's left leg. Five remain on his right. However, they were able to remove the five pellets from his back. They cannot intervene with the 35 pellets in his leg at the moment due to the danger of damaging the tissues. I wish all the children to get well soon."

Explaining the moments when he first heard about the incident, Başakçı said, "My wife called me while I was at work. I was very scared when she said, 'Our boy was shot.' The boss's nephew brought me to the emergency room of the state hospital with his company's car. Then, when I arrived, the ambulance, gendarmerie, police, all the healthcare professionals were there. I heard that there was an attack on the school. However, it was not like a personal animosity or hostility, or a fight. This boy randomly targeted and shot all his schoolmates that came in front of him. He also got caught. "We know," he said.
Stating that families should pay attention to such issues, Başakçı said, "Families need to be a little careful. I wish they would give pens to school instead of guns. In other words, sending weapons is a grave situation. We do not agree with this situation. And we will continue this case until the end. I will follow it until the end."
