According to the statement made by the Ministry, at the meeting held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the dissolution of the terrorist organization PKK/KCK within the scope of the "Terror-Free Turkey" process and the liquidation of its extensions in different names and regions after laying down arms, security risks related to the terrorist organization PJAK, the fight against "new generation organized crime organizations" and security cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
Minister Çiftçi emphasized the importance of the two countries acting in coordination and solidarity in the fight against terrorism and transnational crimes.
Making evaluations about the stage reached in the "Terror-Free Turkey" process, Çiftçi said, "As a result of our determined struggle, the terrorist organization PKK/KCK was forced to dissolve itself and lay down its arms. In addition, we are also following the liquidation process of all extensions of the PKK under different names and regions." he said.
Stating that the liquidation process of the terrorist organization PKK in Syria and Iraq is important for regional peace, Çiftçi noted that it is important to include the PJAK structure of the organization in Iran in this process.
Çiftçi warned that members of the organization who oppose the process could move to Iran and make the organization more effective in Iran.
"We carried out 1592 operations against 562 organized crime groups"
Providing information about the work carried out in the fight against "new generation organized crime organizations", Minister Çiftçi said, "We are determined to fight all criminal organizations to the end in order to fully establish the peace and security of our citizens. In this context, we carried out 1592 operations against a total of 562 organized crime organizations this year alone. 78 of these organizations are poison traffickers who want to drag our youth into the drug swamp." made his assessment.
Minister Çiftçi pointed out the importance of cooperation between Türkiye and Iran in the fight against drug trafficking and transnational crimes and said:
"Again, in 38 thousand 915 drug operations carried out in 2026 alone, 32 thousand 848 people were arrested and 36 tons of drugs were seized. Our countries are located on the transit route of drug trafficking and other transnational criminal networks due to their geographical location. In this context, I would like to state that we are open to effective cooperation with your Ministry in the fight against all kinds of transnational crimes, especially in the fight against drug trafficking and new generation criminal organizations."
Refund requests
Referring to the extradition and deportation processes of criminals between Turkey and Iran, Minister Çiftçi said, "As is known, extradition and deportation issues constitute an important agenda topic in our bilateral cooperation. We attach importance to strengthening the relationship between our Interpol units and carrying out the processes more effectively on this issue." he said.
As a manifestation of this understanding, Çiftçi stated that they are doing their best within the limits of the law against Iran's sensitivities and said, "We meticulously follow the extradition requests sent by Iran and immediately return the individuals whose legal processes are completed to your country. I believe that you are also following our country's demands carefully, and I would like to state that we expect your valuable contributions to complete the ongoing processes." He made a statement.
At the meeting, where joint steps to be taken to combat irregular migration were also discussed, Çiftçi said:
"We have built our policy of combating irregular migration on a holistic system that starts in the source country and ends in the source country, ensuring the safe, dignified and voluntary return of migrants to their country. We know that you, too, are taking measures to prevent the passage of irregular migrants from your eastern border. I think we can fight more effectively with the irregular migration pressure we are exposed to by strengthening our measures at the border in a coordinated manner. We especially need to activate our fight against human trafficking networks and migrant smugglers and increase the mutual exchange of information. "While fighting against immigration, we also support regular migration."
"PKK, PJAK and all their branches must end their existence"

"I congratulate you on reaching a political solution with the PKK. We support it. Turkey, Iraq, Iran and Syria should join hands as four countries for a radical solution. There can be no peace without putting down weapons. PKK, PJAK and all their branches must end their existence and put down their weapons. Türkiye's security regarding terrorism is Iran's security, and Iran's security is Türkiye's security. Our cooperation must develop.
We must increase our cooperation in extradition of criminals before they reach court, especially for drug-related crimes. We are open to cooperation. We must increase the scope of our cooperation and extradition processes on issues such as Interpol cooperation, smuggling and terrorism. Border security is important. We want to cooperate against illegal irregular migration. "We are ready to cooperate against human trafficking gangs on the Türkiye-Iran border."
