TÜRKSAT 3A satellite, which has been in service since 2008, has completed its technological life. A new era has begun in television. TV and radio broadcasts on Türksat 3A were moved to other, more up-to-date and higher capacity Türksat satellites in order to present the new global standards reached in television broadcasting to all viewers.
NO NEED FOR MANUAL SEARCH ON TKGS SUPPORTED DEVICES
In this change, viewers with TKGS (Türksat Channel Update System) supported devices will be able to continue watching television broadcasts without the need to make any settings or manual channel search.
ANNOUNCEMENT FROM TUYAD
Telecommunications Satellite and Electronics Industrialists' Businessmen Association (TUYAD) published a public announcement regarding the access problems experienced on some televisions following the channel and frequency updates made in the Türksat broadcasting system.
In the announcement, it was stated that after the frequency changes, some Smart TV users encountered problems such as channels not opening, black screen, dual channel appearance or no sound.
"THERE IS NO FAILURE IN THE TELEVISIONS"
In the statement, it was emphasized that there was no disruption in the Türksat broadcast and data infrastructure, and it was underlined that the situation was not caused by a hardware failure of the televisions.
In the statement, it was reminded that TÜRKSAT's Channel Update System (TKGS) and TUYAD approved devices automatically process frequency changes. In the statement, it was stated that citizens using these systems do not need to search for an extra channel or make any adjustments.
FAILURE ON SOME SMART TVS
Following the frequency updates, the statement pointed out that there were problems in the automatic processing of TKGS data, especially in some smart TV models, and the following statements were made:
There is no physical or hardware problem with the televisions. The situation is caused by the way the device software processes the current TKGS data and new frequency information. For a permanent solution, the relevant television manufacturer must offer a software/firmware update that will make the device software fully compatible with the TKGS system.
THE PROBLEM ON SAMSUNG CONTINUES
On the other hand, it was learned that viewers cannot adjust TKGS on Samsung brand televisions.
HOW TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION?
Temporary solution steps that citizens can take to avoid any inconvenience until permanent software updates are released by the manufacturers were also shared.
Accordingly, users who have broadcast problems on their televisions:
You can manually restart the TKGS search from the device menu,
You can upload current frequency information by performing a network search from the Settings section.
In the statement, it was noted that it is not a permanent method for users to interfere with device settings for a long time, and that the main solution will be possible if manufacturers provide software support that is fully compatible with TKGS standards.
As the Türksat 3A satellite was approaching the end of its design and technological life, television and radio broadcasts transmitted via the satellite were transferred to other high-capacity satellites in the TÜRKSAT satellite fleet.
BROADCAST TRANSFER HAS BEEN DONE
The broadcast transfer process was carried out on the night between 15 August and 16 August. Since the satellites to which the broadcasts will be transmitted are in the same orbital position as Türksat 3A, viewers do not need to install a new satellite antenna or make any changes to the direction and settings of their existing antennas. After the transfer, SD and HD television broadcasts can continue to be followed via the same satellite antenna in their current format.
TKGS COMPATIBLE DEVICES WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY UPDATED
Thanks to the TÜRKSAT Channel Update System (TKGS), which is standard in new generation televisions and satellite receivers, the channel lists of compatible devices are automatically updated. Viewers with this system will not need to make any settings or manual channel search.
Citizens using older generation internal or external satellite receivers that do not support the TKGS feature must re-scan channels on their devices in order to access current television and radio channels.
MANUAL CHANNEL SCAN FREQUENCIES
Users who will manually scan channels on old generation devices must perform a "network scan" by entering the following frequency information into the settings menu of their satellite receivers:
Frequency: 12380 MHz, Polarization: Vertical (V), Symbol Rate: 27500, FEC: 3/4
Frequency: 12423 MHz, Polarization: Horizontal (H), Symbol Rate: 30000, FEC: 3/4
