UEFA gave match suspensions and fines to Fenerbahçe players

UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Board announced the penalties given due to the incidents in Fenerbahçe's away match against Lyon in the Champions League play-off round rematch. Fenerbahçe announced that UEFA had launched an investigation against Mason Greenwood and Matteo Guendouzi.

GUENDOUZI IS BANNED FOR 4 MATCHES WITH 2 SUSPENSIONS

According to the statement made by UEFA, Matteo Guendouzi was given a 4-match ban in addition to a fine of 50 thousand Euros. It was stated that two of these matches will be valid for this season, while the other two matches will be subject to one-year supervision.

1 MATCH SUSPENDED PENALTY TO GREENWOOD

It was announced that Mason Greenwood was given a 1-match suspended ban in addition to the 30 thousand Euro fine.

In the statement made by UEFA, it was also stated that Fenerbahçe was fined a total of 85 thousand Euros for various reasons. It was announced that Lyon was fined a total of 108 thousand 500 Euros. It was also stated that two of the 5-game suspensions received by Lyon goalkeeper coach Antonio Ferreira will be on one-year supervision.

IN WHICH MATCHES IS GUENDOUZI NOT IN?

In the UEFA Champions League, Fenerbahçe will face Roma at home in its first match on Tuesday, September 10. Afterwards, the yellow-dark blue team will face Aston Villa away on October 14. Matteo Guendouzi will not be able to play in these two matches due to his suspension. Mason Greenwood will be on the field in the Rome match.

Fenerbahçe announced that it will appeal the penalty given by UEFA to Mason Greenwood and Matteo Guendouzi.

Fenerbahçe's statement:

"As a result of the disciplinary investigation carried out by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Board regarding the events in the UEFA Champions League match we played with the Lyon team, we have been notified of the decisions taken against our Club and our players Matteo Guendouzi and Mason Greenwood.

As a result of the disciplinary hearing process carried out by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Board; UEFA Disciplinary Instruction has given a 4-match penalty, 2 of which are final and 2 of which are suspended for 1 year, to our football player Matteo Guendouzi, who was referred for violating the rules of basic sportsmanship and proper conduct within the scope of Article 11(2)(b), insulting the players or other people in the competition within the scope of Article 15(1)(a)(iv), and provoking the spectators within the scope of Article 15(1)(a)(vi).

Our football player Mason Greenwood, who was referred to the disciplinary committee for violating the rules of basic sportsmanship and proper conduct within the scope of Article 11 (2) (b) of the UEFA Disciplinary Instruction, received a 1-match ban and the penalty in question was suspended for 1 year.

Our club evaluates the decisions made by UEFA and the reasons for the decisions through our legal units, and will carry out the necessary arbitration application and objection processes to the UEFA Arbitration Board against the penalties imposed.
