The US is implementing a military aid package for Ukraine worth USD 400 million without Patriot missiles

The administration of US President Donald Trump has started implementing a military aid package for Ukraine worth $400 million. However, according to information from Reuters, this support will not cover missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft systems, which are crucial for defending the Ukrainian sky against Russian attacks.

Aid approved by Congress

The decision to provide Ukraine with another military support package was made at the end of 2025. "As of the beginning of this week, $307 million had been contracted (...) the Trump administration plans to make commitments for the remaining $93 million by the end of the fiscal year, which falls on September 30," Reuters reports.

This means that all funds will be distributed this financial year.

What does the package include?

As part of the latest support, Ukraine will primarily receive spare parts for armored vehicles used by its armed forces. Deliveries are to start in September, and the implementation of the entire package is expected to last until October 2029.

No Patriot missiles. Zelensky appeals

According to Reuters, the package does not include the delivery of missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft systems. These missiles are currently one of the most important elements of Ukrainian air defense, especially in the context of intensifying Russian missile attacks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly appealed to the United States for support in this regard.

According to Zelensky's estimates, "in the winter, Ukraine will need approximately 300 missiles of this type to be able to repel attacks on energy infrastructure."

However, US stockpiles of Patriot missiles have been severely depleted as a result of US and Israeli hostilities against Iran.
