Van without brakes collides with curb and embankment, leaving 12 injured

According to the driver's report, while descending a hill, the vehicle had a brake system failure, causing a loss of steering control. The van then collided head-on with the curb and, subsequently, with an embankment.

According to the incident information, the van did not have seats or seat belts for passengers. The 12 people in the vehicle suffered some type of injury as a result of the accident.

The two passengers in the front were trapped inside the van. To rescue victims trapped in the wreckage, teams used manual cutting tools to remove the vehicle door, allowing access and removal of passengers.

The service was supported by a vehicle from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU), a Military Police vehicle, Municipal Guard vehicles and Santa Casa ambulances. The action brought together doctors, nurses, firefighters, municipal guards and military police.

The Fire Department team, using a rescue vehicle, carried out access and removal of victims trapped inside the vehicle. The military also helped to immobilize and transfer the injured to SAMU vehicles and ambulances available for assistance.

After completing the rescue and providing care to the victims, the materials and objects related to the incident remained under the responsibility of the van owner's son, with monitoring by the Military Police, who remained at the scene.
