The Left Party has not yet decided on the speaker election

The Left Party is said to have not yet decided whether the party's Riksdag group will vote for the Social Democrats' candidate or Tidösid's Andreas Norlén, who has been speaker since 2022.

- He has been speaker of the Riksdag for a long time and managed it in a good way, says V leader Nooshi Dadgostar to TV4 Nyheterna.

Last week, Andreas Norlén tasked S leader Magdalena Andersson with probing the conditions for forming a government, and DN learns that there is a concern in V that a social democratic speaker who is new to his post should put the party line first.

The Social Democrats' group leader Lena Hallengren has been clear that the party wants a Social Democratic speaker candidate. The Left Party has not yet made a final decision on the matter, it is expected to happen sometime before Monday's speaker vote in the Riksdag.

The Ekot was first with the news and according to one of their informants there are "strong factual reasons" for letting Norlén remain as chairman.

- The left party is worried that they will be snubbed on the third deputy speaker position and that it will instead go to KD, says a source with access to DN.

Nooshi Dadgostar says on Friday afternoon that Andreas Norlén has behaved well as chairman. She tells TV4 Nyheterna that a process is currently underway and that the party's parliamentary group is discussing how they should vote on Monday.

At the same time, she praises Andreas Norlén for his work as speaker during the last mandate period.

- It is clear that Andreas Norlén is an experienced person. He has been speaker of the Riksdag for a long time and managed it in a good way, she tells the television channel.

The Social Democrats have not yet announced who their candidate for the post of Speaker will be.
