Consumer prices in Saxony-Anhalt are rising due to high fuel costs

Fuel prices in particular are causing consumer prices in Saxony-Anhalt to rise rapidly. In September, annual inflation was 3.4 percent, as the State Statistical Office in Halle announced. In August, consumer prices rose by 3.2 percent compared to the same month last year and by 2.7 percent in July.

Nationwide, record prices at gas stations made life in Germany more expensive in September than it has been in almost three years. The biggest price driver continues to be high fuel prices, it said. In a year-on-year comparison, this means an increase in the price of diesel fuel by 43.3 percent and premium gasoline by 34.2 percent. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products, clothing and shoes also became more expensive. It was said that the Saxony-Anhalters also had to dig deeper into their pockets for insurance services for travel and luggage as well as jewelry.
