Videomaker Paulo Soares, who died in the crash of the helicopter carrying singer Rick, from the duo with Renner, in Santa Catarina, had been working for five months in the company of businessman Bruno Avelar, who was also on the aircraft. A resident of Osasco, in Greater São Paulo, Paulo has worked professionally in audiovisual since 2022, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The wreckage of the helicopter was found this Tuesday (22), in the Santa Bárbara region, in the interior of Urubici, in the Serra de Santa Catarina. In addition to Rick, Bruno Avelar and Paulo Soares, the pilot and co-pilot were on the aircraft, identified by the company only as Antônio and Leopoldo.
In audiovisual, Paulo worked as a director of photography, camera operator and video editor, with experience in advertising, documentaries and content produced for brands.
In his professional profile, he also presented himself as a filmmaker, a term used for professionals who work in audiovisual production.
Paulo had a degree in Audiovisual Production Technology from Uninove, where he studied between 2021 and 2023. Before that, he had completed high school in 2019 at Escola Estadual Prof. Vicente Themudo Lessa, in Jandira, Greater São Paulo.
The first professional experience recorded on LinkedIn in the audiovisual area is from 2022, when Paulo started working as a freelance filmmaker at the Destiny Institute. It remained in place until April 2023.
Still in 2023, he worked as a freelance filmmaker at Assinco Cursos. The following year, he had experience as a content production professional for social networks at the Tânia Zambon and Rogério Penna institutes.
On social media, internet users commented that, before the accident, Paulo Soares even posted a video showing the flight with the phrase: “I think I was born for this”.
Between September 2024 and January 2026, Paulo worked as a filmmaker at Tizan. Since May this year, he has worked as a filmmaker and video editor at the company Poder Do Network, owned by Bruno Avelar, in Alphaville.
In describing his own professional profile, Paulo said he had a visual approach influenced by an urban documentary aesthetic. According to him, the objective was to capture “texture, atmosphere and truth in the images”.
"My transition to Cinematography comes naturally, from the increasing involvement with light, framing and visual narrative within productions. I seek to create images that expand the atmosphere and emotion of the stories, with an approach that dialogues between the documentary and the cinematographic", he wrote.

Paulo also had a connection with Yah Church, in Vila Leopoldina, West Zone of São Paulo. During the search for the helicopter, the church published a message asking for prayers for him and the other occupants of the aircraft.
“Paulo is part of our house and serves with us at REC - HouseMix”, stated the church in the publication.
The message was released while teams were still searching for the helicopter. The church asked the faithful to pray for Paulo's life, for the families of the occupants and for the professionals involved in the search.
According to information available on social media, Paulo was in a relationship with a psychologist.
Accident
The aircraft containing the five victims disappeared on Monday afternoon (21) after taking off from Porto Belo, on the North Coast, in the morning. The destination was São Joaquim, in the Serra, on a trip of around 190 kilometers.
The region where the wreckage was found has areas that vary between mountains, plains and dense forest.
The search operation included an aircraft, which found the wreckage, approximately 40 firefighters, two sniffer dogs, more than 10 vehicles, and drones with thermal identification capabilities.
Now, the team focuses on recovering the bodies. After removal, they will be taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Lages, the largest city in the Serra.
The helicopter is a Bell 430, manufactured in 2001, with capacity for one pilot and seven passengers. According to the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), the aircraft is in good standing and has an operating certification valid until August 11, 2027.
