Survivor of a helicopter crash on Sunday (20), wanted Paulo Cézar Silva dos Santos was transferred to jail this Wednesday (23) after being discharged from hospital.

Known as Testinha, the man has links to a criminal faction and had been on the run since August 12th. He presented a false document when he was rescued at the scene.

The aircraft was going from Guararema (SP) to Londrina (PR). The 3 occupants were rescued with injuries after using a tablet with a low battery to call for help.

Cenipa will investigate the aircraft crash. The Avaré Civil Police investigates the case as an attack on transport security and investigates the situation of the occupants.

The man wanted by the courts for trafficking and robbery and who was in the helicopter that crashed in a forested area in Iaras (SP), on Sunday (20), was discharged from hospital and transferred to jail this Wednesday (23).

The information was confirmed to g1 by the São Paulo Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (SAP). Paulo Cézar Silva dos Santos was hospitalized at Santa Casa de Avaré (SP) and, after being discharged, was taken to the Cerqueira César (SP) prison unit.

In addition to him, Avaré City Hall also reported that another victim was also discharged from hospital on Wednesday. The helicopter pilot, who was rescued in a more serious condition, had to be transferred to Hospital das Clínicas de Botucatu (SP).

In addition to the outstanding arrest warrants for drug trafficking and robbery, Paulo Cézar has a connection with the First Command of the Capital (PCC) and is involved in the kidnapping of a lawyer in Cubatão, in Baixada Santista.

Known as "Testinha", he had been on the run since August 12 after managing to escape Operation Patrocínio Fiel, which ended in the death of one of the members of the criminal faction.

According to the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (Gaeco) in Santos (SP), Paulo had outstanding arrest warrants for extortion through kidnapping, torture and criminal organization. He was arrested by authorities after being rescued in the wooded area.

After receiving help, the man presented a false identity, but police officers discovered that he was also wanted by the courts for drug trafficking and robbery.

Due to the seizure of the amount, the police are not ruling out the hypothesis that Paulo Cézar was trying to flee the country. He underwent a custody hearing on Monday (22) and had his arrest converted into preventative arrest.

The accident

The helicopter had left Guararema (SP) heading towards Londrina (PR). The victims, including Paulo Cézar, lost their cell phones during the fall, but managed to make a call using a tablet, which had almost run out of battery.

The three victims were found conscious, but had pain and injuries caused by the impact of the aircraft.

The pilot presented the most serious condition. He was conscious and able to communicate, but he had injuries to his lower limbs and pelvis region, as well as severe pain in his spine. According to firefighters, he was the first to be removed from the scene, around 10:30 am.

The copilot was also conscious and reported back pain, in addition to suspected fractures in the lower limbs. He was the second victim removed.

The passenger remained inside the aircraft and had to be removed by teams. He was the third and last victim rescued, around 12:30 pm.

Those rescued were taken to the Avaré emergency room. There, the men remained hospitalized under escort after the Civil Police identified that one of them was wanted by the courts for drug trafficking and robbery.

The Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa) said it will investigate what happened. Investigators from the Fourth Regional Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention Service (Seripa IV) were called to respond to the incident.

The case was registered with the Civil Police of Avaré as an attack on the safety of maritime, river or air transport and is being investigated. The corporation stated that, in addition to Paulo Cézar's criminal record, it is investigating the situation of the other occupants.
