Volkswagen ID. Buzz entered the Guinness World Records by completing a 100 thousand kilometer world tour covering 92 countries with zero malfunction.

Volkswagen's fully electric minibus model ID. Buzz achieved a remarkable success in the automobile world with his huge world tour. This long and challenging journey, Volkswagen ID. The buzz was officially recorded in the Guinness World Records book as a world record.

This adventure, covering 92 countries in total, produced results proving the long-distance capacity and durability of electric vehicles. This event, which took place on 6 different continents, is considered an important milestone in terms of modern transportation technologies.

Details of the record journey

Rainer Zietlow, the driver and organizer of the journey, started this great adventure by setting off from Hannover, Germany, on July 1, 2025. This journey, which started from Hannover, the production center of the vehicle, continued uninterruptedly for 445 days in total.

ID traveled a total of 99,767 kilometers. Buzz successfully completed its route, being charged more than 300 times in the process. While 16 of the intercontinental crossings were carried out by sea, the vehicle demonstrated a great logistical success by crossing all continents.

The journey ended in Germany, where it started, and it was noteworthy that there was no technical malfunction in the vehicle throughout the entire process. This provided important data about the reliability of electric vehicles on long and difficult journeys.

The record certificate was delivered by the authorities at the IAA Transportation fair held in Hannover. This achievement was registered as the record for the most countries visited in one non-stop journey by an electric vehicle.

The different climatic conditions and changing road types encountered throughout the journey proved how resilient the vehicle's equipment was. This distance, approaching 100 thousand kilometers, was an important experience in understanding the long-term performance of electric vehicles.

Battery performance and technical data

The vehicle used in the record journey is a long-wheelbase, mass-produced Volkswagen ID. It stands out as the Buzz Pro model. This model draws attention with its 86 kWh capacity battery.

Offering a range of up to 480 kilometers according to WLTP standards, the vehicle is equipped with 200 kW fast charging support. These technical features allowed long-term journeys to be completed efficiently.

German independent inspection organization TÜV Nord carried out a detailed examination of the vehicle after the trip. Technical examinations documented that the battery retained 95.75% of its original capacity despite harsh conditions.

Driver Rainer Zietlow emphasized that one of the most important results for them was that the vehicle did not experience any technical problems throughout the journey. This reveals the potential of electric vehicle technology beyond daily use.

This success of Volkswagen showed that electric vehicles can be a reliable option not only in urban but also in intercontinental travel. For other manufacturers in the industry, such tests are considered a concrete indicator of technological development.
