Sunshine Foundation launches VR lesson plan to train people to respond to gas leaks

After autumn, the weather gradually turns cooler in the morning and evening, the frequency of use of water heaters and gas equipment increases, and gas safety has become an important issue in life. In the face of invisible and smellable gas leaks that may cause dangerous gas leaks in an instant, how to respond correctly in stressful situations is often the key to avoiding accidental expansion. The Sunshine Foundation recently introduced VR physical teaching plans to transform abstract safety knowledge into an immersive interactive experience, allowing the public to "practice once" before actually encountering danger.

Cai Zhongxian, director of the Taozhu Center of the Sunshine Foundation, said that the Sunshine Foundation has long promoted social education on burn and scald prevention, oral cancer prevention and facial equality, and has also continued to enter campuses and community bases. Recently, it has simulated gas leak situations through VR, allowing students and community elders to enter dangerous environments from a first-person perspective, making choices under situations and pressures, and deepening the correct response methods through vision, operation and situational memory.

When encountering a gas leak, the Sunshine Foundation reminds the public to remember the four-word mantra of "forbidden, closed, pushed, and separated." Forbidden, it is forbidden to operate any electrical switches. When smelling gas, do not turn on or off lights, and do not operate electric fans, sockets and other equipment to avoid sparks from igniting gas; Off, when it is confirmed to be safe and feasible, turn off the main gas switch to prevent continued gas leakage; Push, open doors and windows for ventilation, keep gentle movements, and avoid rapid operation of equipment that may produce sparks; Leave, leave the scene immediately after completing necessary and safe disposal, and call for help in a safe place.

Many people have "heard" about gas safety knowledge, but when they actually encounter a situation, nervousness may make people forget the correct approach. Some people immediately want to open the window, some want to turn off the electrical appliances, and some are anxious to call for help.
