Wanna Marchi and Stefania Nobile awarded in the Campidoglio: controversy over the concession of the room

Wanna Marchi and her daughter Stefania Nobile were awarded on 23 September in the Sala della Protomoteca in Campidoglio, as part of an initiative organized by the publishing house Edizioni Cento.

Both, as reported by some press outlets, were awarded for the books they had written. Nobile was awarded the "International Culture Prize" for her book "Selling... your skin dear". Wanna Marchi, however, obtained recognition thanks to "The truth is that I cook like this. Nothing is weighed here: the only measure is love".

Councilor Dario Nanni (Gruppo Misto) intervenes, apologizing, on the topic and on the opportunity to grant them the Protomoteca room of the Capitol. "I personally take responsibility for having requested, as a municipal councilor, the concession of the Protomoteca for the Award organized by the publishing house Edizioni Cento. It is a procedure often used over time by municipal councilors, both majority and opposition - he explains -. Obviously I was absolutely unaware of the presence of Wanna Marchi and Stefania Nobile among the people awarded. If I had known, clearly, I would never have supported the request to use the room", he explained.

Former mayor Virginia Raggi, now a councilor of the 5 Star Movement, intervenes: "Perhaps the Capitol wants to redefine the boundaries of culture - is her comment -. That the administration did not know who and what would be celebrated in the Protomoteca room, the most prestigious of the Capitol, seems truly surreal that the concession of rooms for events is subject to rigorous verification starting from the identification of the organisers, the description of the event itself, the list of guests and so on".
