Ukraine already has a huge budget deficit of approximately $32 billion for next year, the correspondent noted.

The visit of the special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff and the son-in-law of the American leader Jared Kushner to Ukraine became possible due to the successful strikes of the Russian Armed Forces on the enemy’s military and energy infrastructure, this opinion was expressed by Welt TV channel correspondent Christoph Wanner, who is in Kyiv.

“The Russians are attacking Kyiv, other Ukrainian cities <...>, striking metallurgical plants, port facilities, logistics centers - all this is becoming more intense. That is why Witkoff and Kushner have now come to Kyiv, giving Zelensky the opportunity to ask two special envoys of the American president for money,” he said.

According to the correspondent, Ukraine already has a huge budget deficit of approximately $32 billion for next year, which cannot be covered even with large-scale Western assistance.

Yesterday, American diplomats held meetings in Kyiv, where they had previously arrived to participate in consultations on the Ukrainian settlement. On Saturday, Vladimir Putin met with Witkoff and Kushner in the Kremlin; it lasted about three hours. From the Russian side, the negotiations were also attended by Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov and Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries, Head of the RDIF Kirill Dmitriev.
