WTT Frankfurt Championship: Chinese players missed the semi-finals

On November 7, local time, the 2026 World Table Tennis Professional League (WTT) Frankfurt Championship ushered in the men's and women's singles quarter-finals. Chinese players Chen Xingtong, Kuai Man, Chen Yi and Wen Ruibo who played that day were all eliminated by their opponents. In this tournament in Germany, no Chinese player advanced to the semi-finals.

In the women's singles arena, Chen Xingtong encountered Japanese star Miwa Harimoto. In the first game, Zhang Benmeihe was more determined in attacking key points and took the lead at 12:10. In the second game, Zhang Benmeihe maintained the lead and won another game with 11:5.

In the next two games, both sides scored one victory each, and Zhang Benmeihe led by a big score of 3:1. In the fifth game, when Chen Xingtong was lagging behind, he strengthened his activation in the first three boards, saved match points continuously, and reversed the match at 13:11, chasing the big score to 2:3. In the sixth game, Zhang motomiwa did not give her opponent another chance and sealed the victory with 11:7.

The national table tennis women's team also failed to win in the other two games. Kuaiman and Japanese player Hina Hayata played for seven games and ultimately lost 3:4. Chen Yi lost to the host German player Sabine Winter 0:4 and stopped in the quarterfinals.

In the men's singles arena, Wen Ruibo, the "lone seedling" of the national table tennis team, faced off against Chinese Taipei team player Lin Yunru. Lin Yunru controlled the rhythm of the game and was even better at handling key points. He defeated Wen Ruibo in four straight games at 12:10, 11:7, 11:8, 11:5 and advanced to the men's singles semi-finals.

Lin Yunru said in the post-match interview, "The key to winning this game is to play very well at the beginning and handle the details later. Frankfurt is my blessed place, and I hope to get better results here."

Japanese men's singles star Tomokazu Harimoto swept German star Qiu Dang 4:0, while top seed Japanese men's singles player Terukora Matsushima lost to German player Francesca 2:4.
