Krakow mayoral elections 2020: dates, voting rules and candidates

When are the elections for the president of Krakow?

The first round of the Krakow mayoral elections is scheduled for Sunday, September 27.

Eight registered candidates will run in the presidential elections in the capital of Małopolska.

If none of the candidates receives more than 50%. votes of voters, there will be a second round of elections. The two candidates with the highest results in the first round will participate. A possible second round will take place on Sunday, October 11.

Polling stations will be open from 7. Voting will last until 9 p.m.

Voters can vote in 454 districts, including 412 permanent ones. 42 additional circuits include: hospitals or jails.

Who can vote?

Who can take part in the elections for the president of Krakow? To vote, you must be a person permanently residing in Krakow. In these elections, you cannot change the voting place once or download a certificate of voting rights.

To be eligible to vote, you must update your permanent address in the Central Register of Voters. If you live permanently in Krakow and have not reported this fact to the office, submit an application for permanent residence or to be included in the permanent voting circuit.

Paper applications can be submitted to the Department of Administrative Affairs from Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 7.40 a.m. to 6.00 p.m., and on Thursday from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (registration applications), or from Monday to Wednesday and Friday from 7.40 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., and on Thursday from 8.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. (applications for inclusion in a permanent voting circuit):

How to cast a valid vote in the Krakow mayoral elections?

Each voter can support one candidate by placing an X in the box next to the candidate's name. Then the vote is important.

Transport to the polling stations

People with disabilities and older people who have difficulties in mobility will be able to use free transport to the premises of the district electoral commission from their place of residence (or other indicated place) and transport from the commission premises in Krakow - informs the city office.

Applications from people willing to use transport are accepted by phone by employees of the Department of Social Policy, Equality and Health, Department for the Issues of Persons with Disabilities from September 21 to September 25 from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. and on the day of the early elections, September 27, from 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m., at tel.: 12 323 32 40; 12 616 50 76.

Change of polling place

Voters with disabilities have the right to change the place of voting if the premises of the district electoral commission competent for their permanent residence address or permanent residence address are not adapted to the needs of people with disabilities.
