The number of holiday interventions by GOPR rescuers in the Beskids has increased. This year there were almost 270 of them. That's almost 40 shares more than last year. Rescuers have just summed up the holiday season.

According to RMF FM reporter Marcin Buczek, the largest group of injured people were cyclists. This is almost half of all holiday shares. Bicycle trails attract more and more lovers of two wheels, but unfortunately, they are not always well prepared for mountain conditions.

Not only bicycles - tourists and paragliders also called for help

Tourist accidents constituted a slightly smaller, but still significant number of interventions. Rescuers also had to help paragliders several times.

The most common injuries are the consequences of falls, but there have also been interventions related to diseases, high temperatures, unprepared tourists or getting lost on the trails.

Barania Góra and Czantoria – the most rescue operations

GOPR statistics show that most people were rescued in the Barania Góra and Czantoria ranges. However, it was the quietest in the Pilsko area. Rescuers emphasize that proper preparation and caution on trails can significantly reduce the number of dangerous incidents.

GOPR reminds that the key to safe recreation in the mountains is proper preparation - both in terms of fitness and equipment. It is also worth remembering about changing weather conditions and not to overestimate your capabilities.
