Yemen: Houthi rebels conquer the port city of Mocha

Houthi rebels, supported by Iran, have captured the Yemeni city of Mocha, on the Red Sea. The international media wrote this, quoting Reuters, which cited three Yemeni government sources.

The Houthis are thus getting closer to controlling the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, one of the most important routes in the world for merchant ships. For days, very violent clashes have been underway between the Yemeni military and pro-Iranian rebels, who are contributing to increasing tension in Golgo by hitting Saudi oil infrastructure with rockets.

According to a Yemeni military source, in addition to Mocha, the Houthis conquered the island of Zuqar, south of the Red Sea, 'after missile attacks and a land assault conducted with the help of boats carrying fighters'. Some witnesses reported seeing rebel forces enter Mocha, 70 kilometers north of the Bab El Mendeb Strait, chanting 'death to America, death to Israel'.
