Kaohsiung responds to World Car-Free Day, YouBike and MeNGo launch gift campaign

In response to World Car-Free Day on September 22, the Kaohsiung Transportation Bureau launched a "Bring Home Good Gifts" campaign for YouBike and MeNGo. Starting from September 15, YouBike launched a cycling tour activity. People ride YouBike to visit popular attractions in Kaohsiung. As long as they interact with the community and check in at the attractions, they will have the opportunity to win many gifts such as camping supplies, keyboard and mouse sets, and travel storage bags.

On September 22nd, MeNGo will step up the game and simultaneously launch the "My Green Commute Day - Take MeNGo to Respond to World Car-Free Day" event, encouraging citizens to use public transportation instead of private transportation on that day. As long as they use TPASS/MeNGo to take public transportation on that day, complete a message on MeNGo Facebook, tag 2 friends and fill out the activity form, the first 200 people will receive supermarket coffee e-vouchers.

The Transportation Bureau stated that as of the end of August 2015, the cumulative number of YouBike rides in the city has exceeded 93 million, with more than 1,500 service stations, and YouBike can be found from urban areas to alleys.

As a one-card commuting solution that integrates multiple public transportation, MeNGo has sold more than 3 million units in Kaohsiung city. By integrating buses, MRT, light rail and other public transportation, it allows citizens to easily transfer with one ticket. It also drives the city's carbon reduction to exceed 110,000 tons, adding another force to Kaohsiung's sustainable transportation.

Coinciding with September Traffic Safety Month, the Transportation Bureau this year takes "protecting motorcycle safety" and "continuing the parking culture" as its dual main axes, and responds to the 922 World Car-Free Day by taking public transportation more. While choosing green transportation, traffic safety is indispensable, so that Kaohsiung can move towards a safer, more livable, and more sustainable city.
