Millions of YouTubers’ massive channel disputes! Jia Ning’s mother was sentenced to 1 year and 8 months in prison for embezzling 40 million yuan

[Reporter Wang Dingchuan/New Taipei Report] After the well-known millionaire YouTuber "CROWD" couple Mr. Andy (real name Wang Chongrui) and Jia Ning broke up, a dispute over the channel management rights broke out; the prosecutor found that Jia Ning's mother Zeng Shuhui was involved in misappropriation of more than 40 million yuan in channel income and other things, and registered trademarks , and even evaded more than 5.62 million yuan in taxes. The New Taipei District Court sentenced her to 1 year and 8 months in prison for business misappropriation under the Criminal Code, without any fine. She was sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison for other seven crimes of violating the Personal Information Law, the Tax Collection Law, and Criminal Breach of Trust. She was fined for this part. Jianing was not guilty of the charge of changing channel passwords and interfering with computer use. It is understood that both the prosecutor and Andy are dissatisfied with the verdict and have appealed.

The judgment pointed out that Jia Ning and Andy co-founded the "Mid-level CROWD" and "Mid-level CROWDxFUN Life" channels in 2016. In order to handle the tax issues of the income of the Mt-Mid YT channel, Jia Ning's mother was appointed to register and establish Qunhai Company in 2018. Qunhai Company was used to record the various incomes of the Mt-Mid YT channel and file tax returns. The proceeds were distributed to Andy and Jia Ning to save taxes. Unexpectedly, from February 2019 to April 2024, Jia Ning’s mother actually misappropriated the traffic revenue of the multi-volume YT platform and the FB advertising revenue of more than 820,000 U.S. dollars, and the revenue of the multi-scale Shopee was more than 400,000 U.S. dollars. In addition to the distribution income of U.S. $33,980 and more than NT$13.26 million, the total amount was more than 40 million yuan.

Jia Ning's mother also collaborated with her husband Zhang Guolong and daughter Zhang Jiayun to evade taxes of 5,626,812 yuan by falsely reporting wages or underreporting business income. Jia Ning's father was sentenced to four months in prison and fined 50,000 yuan, and Jia Ning's sister was sentenced to two months in prison and fined 10,000 yuan. She was given a two-year suspended sentence because of her guilty plea, and was given a two-year suspended sentence. She was also required to pay protective supervision and provide 60 hours of voluntary labor.

Jia Ning was accused of changing the channel password so that Andy could not log in, and was involved in the crime of obstructing computer use. The collegial court found that the reason why Jia Ning changed the password was because Andy changed the payment address to his own household registration address without prior notification. Andy had already changed the behavior without the consent of both parties. Jia Ning did not respond in time after raising questions, so he took the action of changing the channel password to prevent Andy from completing the verification. It was difficult to recognize that the reason for his behavior was not legitimate, and he was found not guilty.
