Stating that having the source code of the central command system and command and control infrastructure does not mean having the source code of all the weapons and weapon systems that cooperate within the Achilles Shield, Fenekos stated that in the light of the data disclosed to the public to date, there is no information that the source code of the critical internal functions of the SPYDER, BARAK MX and David Sling systems to be purchased from Israel has been given to Greece.
Fenekos stated that the source code is critical for the Shield of Achilles. "Because we are not just buying missiles and radars. We are building a holistic air defense network in which platforms, sensors, command centers, different weapon systems and weapons must exchange data on threats and cooperate." made the statement.
Speaking to the "in.gr" news site, Fenekos stated that it is not enough to know how much the Achilles Shield costs, and added: "We need to know exactly what Greece can do on its own, which changes will require a manufacturer, which connections require third country approval, and especially which connections of the David Sling require the approval of the USA first." he said.
Fenekos, who warned the government of Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis about the agreement with Israel, pointed out that this cost would be much higher than the cost achieved at the time of the agreement, in times of crisis or war. Opposition parties in Greece had said that the agreement would increase dependence on Israel in the field of defense, impose a financial burden on Greek taxpayers and tie the country's regional policy more to Israel.

The "Achilles Shield" air defense agreement worth approximately 3 billion euros was signed between Israel and Greece in Tel Aviv on August 31. It was stated that within the scope of the "Achilles Shield" agreement, Israel would establish a multi-layered air defense network, including David's Sling systems in Greece and the Barak MX system by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI).
It was noted that the agreement included Rafael's David Sling and IAI's Barak MX systems, as well as Rafael's Spyder system and IAI's MMR type multi-mission radars for air control.
