Zelensky announced his readiness to meet Putin at the G20 Summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski gave an interview to German broadcaster Deutsche Welle. Asked whether he would be willing to meet with Putin at the G20 summit to be held in Miami, USA in December, if he and Russian President Vladimir Putin are also invited, President Zelenski replied, "Yes, of course."

Zelenski said, "We must meet. We must come together, talk and make decisions. The point is not the words. It does not matter what I will say to him or what he wants to say to me. The important thing is only the result. The result is important. That's all."

Zelenski said that the visit of US negotiators Witkoff and Kushner to Moscow and Kiev was a "good signal" and that it was important for the duo to visit Kiev as well as Moscow. Zelenski added that his country is in a good position for negotiations to end the conflict and that his country is stronger than last year.

Putin has not attended the G20 summit since 2019. Last month, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov was invited by the USA to the G20 countries meeting in North Carolina, but this angered European leaders.

DIPLOMATIC EFFORTS ARE GAINING SPEED

The United States is this year's chairman of the G20 group, consisting of 19 countries, the European Union and the African Union, and this period will end with the leaders' summit to be held in Miami in December. The United States is trying to restart long-stalled negotiations to find a solution to this situation, which is in its 5th year and is the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II. Last weekend, US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow, and Putin and Trump discussed the war in a 1-hour phone call earlier in the week, which was described as "extremely cordial" and "constructive".
