Grab a local prescription and Tainan’s “Anther Market” showcases local energy

The 2026 Tainan Local Creation Achievements Exhibition was launched on the 7th and 8th, linking the Tainan Traditional Chinese Medicine Art and Life Festival, the 80th Anniversary of Shengchang Pharmaceutical Factory, the Tainan National Art Museum Preparatory Office Modern Art, and the National Development Council's Southern District Local Creation Achievements Exhibition. It uses traditional Chinese medicine culture to connect local industries and life aesthetics, presenting a diverse look at the interweaving of local creation and urban life.

This year's Tainan Local Creation Achievements Exhibition has the theme of "Anthers in the City - Southern Clinic Chat Room, Grab a Local Prescription". It combines Tainan Local Creation Curation, Wenxiang Market, neighborhood reading and stamp collection activities to bring industrial stories, cultural memories and creative actions from various parts of Tainan to the exhibition. Through viewing exhibitions, visiting markets and walking around neighborhoods, you can understand the practical results of local teams' deep cultivation of the land.

Mayor Huang Weizhe said that since the launch of the "Local Creation Train" in 2019, Tainan has continued to promote local creative development in each district based on local characteristics, local industries and human resources. In 2022, the Tainan City Local Creation Project Office will be established to assist local governments in turning ideas into concrete actions. From the development of characteristic industries and cultural inheritance to the return of young people to start their own businesses, behind every achievement is the long-term efforts of local teams. We hope that through the achievement exhibition, more people will see these stories, further visit and support the local area, and let the creative action continue to take root in Tainan.

The achievements exhibition sets up an exclusive curatorial area for Tainan's local creations, using the "Baizi cabinet" of the Chinese medicine pharmacy as the visual image, collecting creation stories from various places into drawers, and matching them with Xibei and Xinan specialty products and creation products to display Tainan's promotion results in industrial innovation, cultural inheritance and youth returning home. Through drawer exploration and display of goodies, the public learned how Tainan’s local teams used local resources, responded to hometown issues, and wrote unique “creation prescriptions” for the local area, demonstrating the creative capabilities of Tainan’s cross-regional integration and its ability to deeply cultivate the local area.

The "Wenxiang Market" debuted in the outdoor green area, inviting Tainan's local creation team to bring special products, local food and handicrafts, allowing the public to connect with the place through smell, taste and touch. In addition to shopping for local products, you can also communicate face-to-face with the team, listen to the land stories and entrepreneurial journeys behind the products, and turn your understanding of the local area into practical actions to support local industries.

The day-reading activity takes "Looking for Urban Medicine" as the main theme, extending the creation story from the exhibition venue to the neighborhood. The route connects Dao Rubing Shop, Jiu Yong Ruizhen Cake Shop, Chen Deju Tang/Fucheng Ganzai and Snail Alley. From youth entrepreneurship, rebirth of old houses, traditional cake art to revitalization of historical sites and literary landscapes, it leads the public to understand the creative practices in the alleys of the old city; Another route visited the West Market, Jinyuanxing, Xingyuan Jiaqi, Xia Daoliang Palace and Youai Market to explore the transformation of old stores, the reuse of Chinese medicine store space, the life culture of Miaokou, and the development of traditional markets where digital workers have entered the market.

Economic Development Director Zhang Tingyuan said that this will allow people to understand Tainan from different angles, allow the achievements of creation to be seen, and also allow local goodies, local stories and neighborhood characteristics to further integrate into daily life.
