Russia and South Ossetia discussed gasification and energy modernization

MOSCOW, September 26 - RIA Novosti. Russia and South Ossetia discussed the issues of gasification of villages and regions of the Transcaucasian republic, as well as the modernization of its energy facilities, in particular, the power grid, the Russian Ministry of Energy reported.

Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev and the elected President of the Republic of South Ossetia Marat Kambolov held a working meeting.

“The parties discussed the issues of gasification of villages and regions of South Ossetia and modernization of the republic’s electrical grid,” the statement says.

Also during the meeting, the implementation of the agreements reached during the working visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation to the republic in the summer of 2026 was discussed. Particular attention was paid to further interaction between the parties in the energy sector.

The Russian ministry added that Tsivilev and Kambolov emphasized the importance of maintaining regular dialogue and coordinating joint work on priority areas.

In turn, the elected president of South Ossetia noted that the Russian Ministry of Energy is the key partner of the republic in matters of gas and electricity supply.

“For many villages in the republic, gasification remains one of the most pressing problems... Now we have made significant progress in solving this problem,” Kambolov wrote in his Telegram channel,

According to him, the Russian side has also prepared proposals for modernizing the power grid in South Ossetia, and work in this direction, taking into account previously reached agreements, will continue.
