Lahoud: Resistance is the only solution, and Lebanon is making concessions from one side

Lahoud wrote in a letter of condolence addressed to “the families of the martyrs who fell in the south”: “Unfortunately, we are repeating these words on an almost weekly basis, while the West watches, especially the United States of America, which is supposed to be the sponsor of the ceasefire agreements, which remain a dead letter.”

He added: "Since sitting with this enemy at the negotiating table, it has continued its attacks that do not spare civilians, not to mention burning lands and bulldozing villages. It has not and will not stop its expansion because it only believes in the logic of force," considering that "this talk may not please some who, for their internal political reasons, are trying to convince themselves that submitting to this enemy, under the name of peace, is the path to salvation."

He continued: "We believe that resistance is the only solution, with severing all ties with it until what was previously agreed upon is implemented, because Lebanon is making concessions from one side, and this is the worst that can happen, and the evidence is the displacement, destruction and death we are witnessing."

He concluded by saying: "If some people are convinced that our strength is in our weakness and in accepting the fait accompli, then let them accept, at the very least, the minimum, which is to return to what we reached at the ceasefire, instead of continuing to be passive in the face of the scorched earth policy practiced by the Israelis, in a failed attempt to make us lose the character of a resistant country that the people of the South have enshrined."
