Iran condemns the air strikes in Yemen and confirms its readiness to resolve the crisis

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the military escalation in Yemen and the air strikes that targeted Houthi sites, after the internationally recognized Yemeni government announced the killing of 4 Iranian experts who were providing support to the Houthis.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its statement that it "strongly condemns the strikes on infrastructure and civilian targets in Yemen, stressing that the continued violation of Yemeni national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and the aggressive operations against the cities and villages of this country, in addition to the continuation of the economic blockade imposed on this country, violates the basic principles of the United Nations Charter," according to what was reported by the official Iranian "IRNA" news agency.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs added in its statement that it "strongly condemns the air strikes on the Taiz market on Sunday afternoon, which resulted in the death of more than 50 people and the injury of dozens, as well as the air strikes on the cities of Khub and Al-Sha'af," according to the "IRNA" agency.

The Ministry explained that "as the Islamic Republic of Iran recalls its principled position on the situation in Yemen, it confirms its readiness for any noble endeavors to resolve the issues based on the agreed-upon road map."

The official spokesman for the Yemeni government armed forces, Colonel Majid Abdullah Al-Nuzaili, said on Sunday that, “Over the past 72 hours, the armed forces carried out 756 specific and precise targeting operations against sites, elements and military capabilities belonging to the Houthi militia on the Kataf and Al-Baqa’ fronts, the Al-Alab axis, Al-Jawf, Ma’rib, Al-Bayda, Lahj, and Taiz.”

He added, "Numerous weapons were used, resulting in the killing and wounding of hundreds of Houthis, and the killing of 4 Iranian experts specialized in operating and launching drones and missiles in Taiz Governorate, in a new confirmation of the continued Iranian support and expertise provided to the terrorist militia," as reported by the "Saba" agency, in its version affiliated with the internationally recognized government.

The official military spokesman for the Houthis, Yahya Saree, announced, on Sunday, that 26 air strikes had occurred during the past 24 hours, which, according to him, resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens, including 50 killed in an air strike on the Taiz market, according to what was reported by the Houthi-run version of the Saba news agency.
