New warning system in Ukraine to reduce economic losses

To mitigate losses, the government introduced a two-level alert system: red for missiles, requiring shelter, and yellow for drones, allowing most businesses to remain open, with more than half of businesses continuing to operate during yellow alerts.

He pointed out that a yellow alert does not guarantee safety, as two people were killed in the National Academy of Sciences in central Kiev during a recent yellow alert from a Russian drone strike.

He said that this year alone, Russian attacks caused damage estimated at $10 billion in fixed assets, targeting steel factories, warehouses, logistical infrastructure, and data centers. Russia also imposed a virtual blockade on Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea.

He added that the government is more prepared for a winter that may be the harshest, amid expected pressure on energy, infrastructure, and companies.
