The Chiayi District Prosecutor's Office recently directed the police to uncover a marijuana cultivation and manufacturing facility in a Tuotiancuo in the East District of Chiayi City. It was discovered that men surnamed Chen and Liao used high-tech equipment to grow marijuana from one branch into 67 plants using the "cutting method". Today, two people were charged on drug charges.

This case was jointly investigated by a task force composed of the Second Brigade of the Third Security Police Corps, the Joint Police Dog Unit, the Kaohsiung City Police Criminal Police Brigade, the Minxiong Branch of the Kaohsiung City Police Department, and the Second Branch of the Kaohsiung Police Department under the command of Lu Yachun, prosecutor of the Kaohsiung City Police Department.

After an in-depth search for evidence and information, the task force went to the residence of Liao Nan (46 years old) in Jia City on April 16 this year to search and seize 1 package of dried cannabis leaves (gross weight 36 grams), which was delivered to his East District owner. From the rented Toutinguo planting base, 67 cannabis plants (including 1 dry plant and seedlings) and a full set of professional planting tools such as plant growth lights, pH meters, digital light meters, automatic irrigation and light control equipment were seized.

The indictment pointed out that Liao Nan and Chen Nan (35 years old) knew that marijuana was a second-level drug, so in January this year, Liao Nan rented a house in the East District of Jiashi City as a planting site, and purchased marijuana seeds, plants, growing lights and other equipment from Chen Nan.

Since February this year, Chen Nan has taught Liao Nan planting techniques, and has used "cutting" propagation methods combined with automated equipment to expand cultivation. Liao Nan also brought the cut cannabis leaves back to his residence to be dried and processed to produce second-level drug cannabis products that are easy to administer.

The prosecutor stated that marijuana is a second-level drug in my country and is extremely harmful to physical and mental health and social security. Those who cultivate marijuana with the intention of manufacturing drugs may be sentenced to more than five years in prison; those who manufacture second-level drugs may be sentenced to life imprisonment or more than 10 years in prison. The public is urged not to take chances.
